Lolitafy This: The Blue Blood Challenge

September 22nd, 2013

Part of the allure of Lolita fashion to me, is creating a beautiful outfit while remaining within the very specific guidelines of the fashion.
My wonderful partner describes is to writing a sonnet: you can be as creative as you desire, but you have to meet the criteria. Just like not every poem is a sonnet, not every cute outfit is Lolita.

So a challenge was presented to the Sakacho’s Lolita Haven group–create an outfit that meets all the guidelines of Lolita using one of the outfits off on the Blue Blood $1L shelves. While all the dresses are absolutely adorable, none of them can be worn alone as a full Lolita outfit.

There was quite a bit of variety to chose from. I went with the Wanda Dress.

This dress was actually very easy to work with because, like all Ghanima’s stuff, it was well made and beautifully textured. I didn’t care for the Rococo style skirt, however, so I ended up reshaping it to be more a-line and adding a lace trim. While this dress could have gone without a blouse, I love the the white contrast, especially since I went with black shoes, stockings, and accessories. I don’t often see heart motifs on Gothic dresses, but I decided to run with it.  I paired it with my SweetHeart necklace from Violet Volitare and my Heart bag from a G Field group gift. I really wanted the (fd) black platform cuties from The Arcade, but the gacha machine is still not cooperating with me. The chunky platforms from Dark Midday Designs were a more than adequate substitution. To achieve a more porcelain look, I went with the lighter version of my Pink Fuel Harley skin (aptly named Porcelain), though wearing a lot of make-up to whiten your skin is not encouraged in Lolita fashion. The Sweet Dolls Lo*momo hair finished off the outfit nicely. Overall, I am very happy with the results!
